I've decided to create this pinned topic under Announcements for the main "To do" list. If it's a big announcement then I'll still give it a new thread here that's dated like EA releases, bigger announcements, etc. This thread in particular will be a place for everyone to see what needs to be done and also what has been done. Wow, things have been busy for me lately but I'm feeling like I might be catching up on my list of things to do. Over the last month and a half I've put together this site, made 58 videos, started many companion sites to help spread the word, created a few new EAs and one indicator, not to mention bug fixes and enhancements. I know sometimes it may seem like I'm absent but I'm not. I hope no one has been feeling neglected because I have been working hard and trying to at least get back to your questions in a prompt manner.

So what are my plans now?
  • Finish up on some requests for the EAs (mostly money management)
  • Post some results of my EAs (demo and live)
  • Create new results videos for where I am now (demo and live)
  • 6+ new EAs to write
  • Finish the main site www.MTaboneWebForex.com
  • Instructional videos about typical things

Some of these things will be on-going and some may take a little while but I am making every effort to provide the best service I can. If there is something specific you'd like to see please let me know.

Thanks again for all your support,
Matt

Hi Matt

You seem like a very dedicated and honest site developer. My experience with your EAs has been very good. By that I mean there have been very few bugs that I have noticed (if any!).

Here is my one request to you, please don't overextend yourself so much as to burnout. You must be sure to balance your efforts here with your existing commitments like Family and Work and of course YourSelf. I know that this site means alot to you and I can see that you are very passionate about it, and for good reason. You are a very talented programmer and you have a good thing going here. Please just be sure to take rest when you need to and remember AllThings that are important in your time, by doing so you will be able to serve ThisElement of your life most effectively.

Dan

Dan,

I appreciate that and that's exactly what I did today. I took the day to spend with my youngest daughter (11) and wife. It's been cooling off quite a bit here in AZ and it was a perfect day to get out of the house.

Matt

Cooling off in AZ! That makes me giggle a little. Temperatures here now get below freezing regularly at night! I live in Northern Alberta, Canada and mid-winter temps will average -20Celcius for daytime highs! biggrin.gif
I'm not complaining about the cold and infact I would not want to be in the mid-summer heat of AZ either. . .

Glad to hear you are making time for your Family too.

Last night got down into the upper 50s for us which feels kind of cold. When you start getting used to 100+ then 50s can seem cold especially with very little humidity. Right now it's 50F at 7am and we're going to get up to only 75 today. Don't get me wrong... I'm loving it since we just moved here from Michigan a year ago but my girls have adjusted and they get pretty cold.

Hi Matt,

This is my first post, with a problem I'm afraid

I set the system this morning using FXDDD and Interbank FX for comparison. The smilies on both show Not Happy. I have set 6 pairs on each program.

I am sure I am doing something silly.... ??????

Great site

Do you have the "Allow live trading" checkbox checked in the Expert Advisor settings?

My apologies for being somewhat silent on the forums lately. I'm working hard this week to take care of some things that were hanging out there like...
  • Money Management
  • Blackout hours
  • the 5th digit
  • the videos for the new Synergy Method EA
Rest assured that I am around and will answer questions or help out in anyway that I can.

Well, well, well... What have I been doing???

First... I've added support to all my EAs to handle the extra digits that some brokers have (3rd or 5th digit precision). This was a very tricky update if you can believe that and may introduce some bugs to those using the odd brokers. Anyone using a broker with either 2/4 digit precision should not notice any differences.

Second... I just finished programming blackout functionality into the AshFX, PipNailer, BreakoutSentinel, RollerCoaster, and SynergyMethod EAs. You will now have the option to set a start and end time for the EA to essentially sleep. I've also added true/false variables to decide if pending/open orders should be forced closed during blackout times.

Since I'm kind of on a roll and feeling ambitious I'm going to get money management finished up as well although I anticipate this being very extensive since I want it to be flexible.

Wow! Thanks for the updates Matt. I am sure this is very time consuming for you. It looks like you have done some upgrades here across the board that will really make your EA's more flexible.

Great work and Thanks again,

Dan

great Matt,
thanks, i think the time element is a great idea. does that mean, you will have a start and stop time, then a black out in the middle, so the ea will start and stop again after the black out period ? I guess i will understand once it is finished.
thanks again

Yes, you have a blackout start hour and end hour. During that time the EA will not place any new orders (pending or live). In addition, there is a true/false for closing pending orders during the blackout and also a true/false for closing open orders during the blackout time.

Will there be an option for multiple black out times within a 24hr period?

Within reason... How many blocks of time do you think would be enough?

Apparently I've broken the TOS on WordPress.com. I have to say they we extremely nice about it and I sill think it's a great tool. Due to this blog going down I had to spend yesterday setting up a blog hosted by me so there are no problems. Let me tell you... It was tricky getting a PHP based website using MySQL setup on my Windows 2008 Web Server running IIS 7 and SQL 2005 Express. I would also like to say that I think WordPress.org goes above and beyond offering their setup for free. Now I have all the comforts of a WordPress blog but it's hosted by me and gives me far greater control over it. Enough talking...

The new blog address is http://www.MTaboneWebForex.com/Blog. biggrin.gif

Please feel free to subscribe to the blog since it will eventually take the place of this thread "What's Matt doing?". I just think a blog might be an easier, better looking, way to communicate what's happening in a general sense. This also focuses that the forums are more for a support/information.

Also, at this point, I'm not really sure what I'll be doing with my actual website http://www.MTaboneWebForex.com. It's been on the back burner for a long time now and I just don't know if it's needed since I have a forum (here), a blog, the YouTube Channel, and all the iTunes Podcasts. The OCD side of me doesn't want to let it go since it really completes the package so I don't know right now.

Matt

I must admit, I'm not much of a blogger. Can someone do a quick explanation of how to take advantage of RSS? I use google mail, is there a way to have any of the new blogs sent directly to my email?
